Job summary

Cannon Fire Sprinklers & Cannon Fire Safety in Birmingham seeks a Sprinkler Design Engineer to lead design and technical activities across projects and small works. The role requires expertise in BS9251 and BSEN12845 standards, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with Sales, Operations, Service and accreditation teams.

You will liaise with internal departments, attend project design meetings, and support audits while upholding safety culture and company objectives.

Qualifications

  • More than five years experience in the sprinkler industry.
  • Basic Design LPC/BS qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of LPC, BS and FM rules/guidance.
  • Strong health and safety management understanding.
  • Comprehensive industry knowledge.
  • Excellent leadership and customer-facing skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Creative problem solving abilities.
  • Energy, drive and enthusiasm.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the delivery of all design and technical aspects of projects and small works.
  • Oversee the design and compliance process from sale to completion.
  • Provide technical support to internal departments across the business.
  • Attend project design meetings and lead kickoff discussions.
  • Lead customer teleconferences, visits and audits and provide timely reports.
  • Interact with accreditation bodies such as IFC and LPC.
  • Conduct design compliance audits internally and externally.
  • Advise the board on non-compliance and design updates.
  • Promote the company vision in daily activities.
  • Create, deliver and complete all design drawings as required.

Cannon Fire Sprinklers & Cannon Fire Safety is a specialist offering the complete design, installation and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems and ancillary services. It supports customers by providing high-quality fire suppression and compliance based on appropriate fire safety legislation. We provide our services to both Commercial and Residential. It is an exciting time to be part of Cannon Fire Sprinklers & Cannon Fire Safety which is progressing an ambitious but achievable growth strategy. This Sprinkler Design Engineer role will be responsible for all design activity on projects and small works covering systems designed to BS9251, BSEN12845 including TB’s and incorporating all industry membership guidance, Health & Safety requirements and will be a key role within the business offering technical support on Sales, Operations, Service and business accreditations.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Manage the delivery of all design, technical aspects of projects & small works.
  • Oversee the design and compliance process from point of sale to completion.
  • Serve as the internal link within the company and will have direct contact with all internal departments to offer technical support.
  • Attend Project Design Meetings at the business or customer site. Leads and represents the business at kick off meetings as required by the customer.
  • Lead and facilitate customer teleconferences, visits and audits as required, and provides timely provision of customer reports and updates.
  • Interact with accreditation bodies such as IFC & LPC.
  • Responsible for all design related compliance audits both internally and externally and will advise the business of risks associated with non-compliance timely.
  • Demonstrate and promote the company vision.
  • Create, deliver and complete all design drawings as required and when required by the businesses obligations to its customers.
  • Provide advice to the Board of Directors on any non compliance issues, design workload issues and industry related design updates that may impact the business on any of its current and future projects.
