Job summary

Middlesbrough College Group is seeking a proactive Sports Technician to support our sports facilities and activities within the Commercial Events department. The role involves preparing equipment, maintaining safe learning environments, and assisting with curriculum and commercial bookings.

The position is 30 hours per week, part-time, permanent term time only (38 weeks) with a salary of £16,651–£17,312 per annum.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths & English at grade C/4 or above.
• Relevant coaching qualification is desirable.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Willingness to undertake mandatory training.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, inspect and prepare sports equipment, facilities and practical learning environments.
• Ensure sports areas comply with health and safety requirements and report defects.
• Support curriculum sports, commercial events, venue hire and bookings.
• Assist teaching staff with materials and equipment for practical sessions.
• Manage stock control of consumables and equipment, ensuring resources are organised and secure.

The Role

We are seeking a proactive and reliable Sports Technician to provide practical support across our sports facilities and activities. The role involves preparing equipment and learning environments, maintaining safe and organised facilities, and supporting the delivery of curriculum and commercial activities. The successful candidate will also support bookings and events across the Curriculum Sports Department; Schools provision and the School of Engineering (SOE).

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, inspect and prepare sports equipment, facilities and practical learning environments.
• Ensure sports areas comply with health and safety requirements and report any defects or issues.
• Support curriculum sports activities, commercial events, venue hire and facility bookings.
• Assist teaching staff with the preparation of materials, equipment and practical sessions.

Qualifications

Experience

• Experience working within a sporting environment.
• Experience in a similar sports, leisure or facilities support role.
• Experience managing or supporting outdoor sporting facilities.

• Knowledge of sports rules, regulations and sporting environments.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Good IT skills relevant to the role.
