About the role:

Sport and physical activity can be a powerful way to improve wellbeing, build confidence and help people feel more connected to themselves and their communities. As a Sports Coordinator, you'll play a key role in making those opportunities happen for people experiencing homelessness and multiple disadvantage across Single Homeless Project (SHP).

This is a hands on and outward facing role where you'll bring energy, creativity and momentum to our sports programme. You'll deliver engaging sport and exercise sessions, help expand activity across our services and work with the Sport Lead to coordinate freelancers, volunteers and peers who bring additional skills and opportunities into the programme. You'll build strong relationships with clients and teams, spot where new activities could make a difference and help turn ideas into opportunities people genuinely want to take part in.

You'll also help take the programme beyond SHP, building relationships with sports providers, community organisations and charities across London to open up new opportunities for clients. You'll champion the role physical activity can play within homelessness services, encourage more people to get involved and help services build the confidence, networks and resources to make sport and exercise a lasting part of the support they offer.

At SHP, you'll be supported to keep developing too. You'll have access to learning and development opportunities, the chance to strengthen your skills across programme development, partnership working and inclusive practice, and opportunities to build experience that can support your longer-term career progression across SHP and the wider homelessness and support sector.

About you:

  • You have experience delivering engaging sport, exercise or physical activity sessions, alongside relevant sports or coaching qualifications.
  • You know how to motivate and encourage people who may face barriers to taking part in physical activity, creating sessions that feel inclusive, positive and achievable.
  • You're confident building relationships and can bring clients, colleagues, volunteers, freelancers and external partners with you.
  • You're proactive and resourceful, with the confidence to spot new opportunities, build partnerships and help grow the reach and impact of a sports programme.
  • You're organised, adaptable and passionate about using sport and physical activity as a tool to improve health, wellbeing and connection.

About us:

We're London's leading homelessness charity - and we get things done.

In a city where hundreds are forced into homelessness every day, our work has never been more needed or more challenging. And we're not shying away. We're rolling up our sleeves to make change and helping over 10,000 Londoners every year. We prevent homelessness, provide safe places to live and give people the opportunity to rebuild their lives and transform their futures. And we never give up.

We're here for Londoners wherever they are on their journey. We start with trust, building relationships that help people feel safe, supported, and ready to move forward. Every day, we put people first in everything we do, challenging injustice and barriers that keep people from the safety, stability and opportunity they deserve. We stand alongside people as they rebuild and shape a future that feels their own.

Joining Single Homeless Project means joining a team that's bold, compassionate and determined to do better for the people we support and for each other. You'll work alongside colleagues with lived experience, in a space that’s trans-inclusive, disability-friendly, and actively striving to be anti-oppressive and equitable.

We're not perfect, but we're real. We listen. We learn. And we push forward, together. Because this isn't just a job. It's a chance to lead with empathy, spark change, and help build a London where no one is left behind.
