Cover People in Manchester is recruiting for a Sports Coach / TA in the Bury area to support students in KS3 and KS4 within a secondary Alternative Education Provision.

The role runs Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm, with a daily rate of £100-£115 paid PAYE and a focus on sport, engagement and wellbeing. This well-regarded provider offers personalised pathways, safeguarding support, on-site parking, and strong links to local schools.

Qualifications

• A CV with full history from education until present.
• Minimum of 3 months verifiable experience supporting young people.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Valid photo ID and proof of address.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for a new one).
• Minimum of 2 professional references, covering the last 2 years.
• A supportive and consistent attitude, with a genuine passion for working with vulnerable young people.
• Overseas police certificate (if applicable).

• Support students in PE lessons, small groups and one-to-one settings.
• Encourage physical activity and wellbeing through sport.
• Assist with classroom tasks and promote positive behaviour.

Role

• Sports Coach / TA in a large yet welcoming & supportive secondary Alternative Education Provision in the Bury area.

• Start Date: ASAP
• Daily Rate: £100-£115 (depending on experience, paid PAYE).
• Working Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm.

About the Role - Sports Coach / TA

As a Sports Assistant / Teaching Assistant, you'll support students in both KS3 and KS4 in PE lessons, small groups, and one-to-one settings to encourage physical activity, engagement, and wellbeing. You'll assist with classroom tasks, promote positive behaviour, and help build confidence through sport and personalised support. You may be asked to support in other lessons as and when required.
