Job summary

GSL Education is seeking a Sports Coach / Learning Support specialist for a role in Worksop. You will assist in lessons, support pupils, and help maintain positive behaviour when needed.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
• A background in sport, coaching, fitness or a related area is welcomed, but is not essential.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A calm, patient and consistent approach to behaviour support.
• Ability to work confidently alongside teachers and other school staff.
• Genuine interest in supporting pupils with their learning and development.
• Education, classroom support or SEN experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom support to pupils across Primary or Secondary settings.
• Support teachers with learning activities and day-to-day classroom routines.
• Help maintain positive behaviour and encourage pupils to remain engaged.
• Provide cover supervision and ensure pupils remain focused during lessons.
• Build positive and professional relationships with pupils.
• Support pupils who may require additional encouragement or SEN support.
• Use skills gained through sport or coaching to promote structure, resilience and teamwork.

Salary: £460 – £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)

Do you have a background in sport, coaching or fitness and enjoy helping young people stay focused and engaged? A supportive school in Worksop is looking for a Sports Coach / Learning Support professional to provide valuable classroom-based support.

About the Role:

This is a school-based classroom support role, rather than a PE teaching or sports delivery position. You will work alongside teaching staff to support pupils in lessons, help manage behaviour and provide cover supervision when required. Your sporting background can bring useful transferable skills such as resilience, structure, communication and positive behaviour management, but supporting learning and pupils is the main focus of the role.

To work with GSL Education as a Sports Coach / Learning Support, you should:

• Have the right to work in the UK.
• Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.
• Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
• Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
