Job summary

Beckett Sport at Leeds Beckett University is seeking a Sport Operations Manager on a full-time fixed-term maternity-cover contract up to 12 months. You will oversee day-to-day operation of Beckett Sport facilities at Headingley, ensuring safety, quality, and welcoming environments for students and the community.

You will manage budgets, resources and a team of four Sport Centre Supervisors, lead Health & Safety, and drive high standards of customer service and facility usage.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent management experience in a complex environment.
• Proven success in managing budgets and delivering projects on time and cost.
• Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation with IOSH Managing Safely and pool plant certificate (or ability to obtain within 3 months).
• Advanced IT skills and experience with front-of-house / management information systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operation, maintenance and compliance of Beckett Sport facilities and equipment, delivering a safe, high-quality environment for every user.
• Manage operational budgets and resources, meeting income and expenditure targets and ensuring strong financial controls and value for money.
• Take the lead on Health & Safety across the service, and line manage, motivate and develop a team of four Sport Centre Supervisors.
• Champion a strong customer service culture, working with the Sport Manager to maximise facility usage and community participation.
