A leading hospice seeks a spiritual leader to provide pastoral, spiritual, and religious support to patients and families. The successful candidate will develop and implement strategies for spiritual care, and lead educational initiatives across the organization, all while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
Job summary
The postholder will lead the provision of pastoral, spiritual and religious support to patients and families at Mountbatten Hospice. This will include working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to offer advice on, and the delivery of, interventions to manage spiritual distress.
They will propose, develop and implement a culturally sensitive hospice strategy for pastoral, spiritual and religious support, coordinating and delivering spiritual care education and training and consultation both internally and externally.
The successful candidate will contribute to the development of integrated spiritual support strategies for patients and families, as well as employees and volunteers.
*22.5 hours per week to be worked in accordance with the needs of the service*
Main duties of the jobIn conjunction with the Senior Management Team, lead and embed a culture of spiritual care throughout the hospice services. Ensure that patients, families, employees and volunteers are supported to explore issues such as loss, hope and meaning in line with organisational values, vision and mission.
Develop provision and policies for spiritual support, ensuring there are effective mechanisms for monitoring and evaluating service provision and that practice meets best standards.
Lead on pastoral, spiritual and religious education across all employees and volunteers regarding all areas of the hospice service provisions. To engage with the local population to offer appropriate education opportunities.
Offer personally, and by co-operation as appropriate, full sacramental ministry and non-liturgical prayer and pastoral care within the hospice and in the community as required. This duty will include working (or making appropriate arrangements) for key religious, multi-faith, and non-faith-based celebrations, including all major festivals.
