Job summary

Fortius Clinic is seeking a Lead Theatre Practitioner – Spinal to deliver safe, efficient spinal services across our operating theatres. You will scrub for complex spinal procedures and lead instrumentation management, working with consultants and the MDT to maintain high standards of care.

This role blends hands-on clinical expertise with leadership, education and service improvement responsibilities, including workforce planning, governance and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Registered practitioner with NMC or HCPC.
• Minimum 5 years operating theatres experience.
• Significant spinal scrub expertise in orthopaedic/spinal theatres.
• Experience managing spinal instrumentation and loan kits.
• Ability to act as a senior clinician and coordinate theatre activity.
• ILS qualification.
• Experience supervising and supporting junior staff, students and new starters.
• Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to lead a multi-functional team.
• Qualified Surgical First Assist or working towards.
• Mentorship / Practice Assessor qualification.
• ALS qualification.

Responsibilities

• Act as a senior clinical expert in spinal scrub practice for complex cases.
• Develop, plan, implement and evaluate patient care with the MDT.
• Support consultants and MDT with high-level decision-making and coordination.
• Lead on governance, incident reporting and follow-up.
• Lead on spinal instrumentation, implants, loan kits and consumables.
• Oversee equipment, asset registers and maintenance compliance.
