Job summary

Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Speech and Language Therapist for a 12-month fixed-term post in the Community Learning Disability Team. The role focuses on assessing and treating communication and swallowing difficulties in adults with learning disabilities, with clinical supervision and a designated caseload.

The post is community-based requiring a UK driving licence and access to a vehicle; visa sponsorship is available for this registered practitioner role.

Qualifications

• Degree or Masters in Speech and Language Therapy.
• Evidence of completion of RCSLT NQP competencies or equivalent preceptorship.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Experience with adults with learning disabilities.
• Experience in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage a designated caseload of adults with learning disabilities who have communication and/or swallowing difficulties.
• Deliver specialist speech and language therapy assessment and intervention in communication and dysphagia.
• Deliver person-centred, evidence-based care with service users, families, carers and professionals.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Build partnerships with health, social care and voluntary sector organisations.
• Provide advice, support and training to carers and support providers.
• Contribute to training, quality improvement projects and service development.
