Job summary

Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist focused on adults with communication and swallowing difficulties within community and learning disability services. The role involves managing a personal caseload, travelling between community settings and working closely with families and carers.

HCPC registered therapists with experience in learning disability and dysphagia are required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent.
• Postgraduate RCSLT-accredited dysphagia course or equivalent.
• Post-qualification courses in learning disability.
• Attendance at Clinical Excellence Networks.
• Up-to-date fieldwork or pre-registration training.

Responsibilities

• Assess, treat and manage a caseload of adults with communication and dysphagia.
• Work with individuals, families and carers to improve communication, safety and quality of life.
• Deliver person-centred care for adults with learning disabilities, reducing health inequalities.
• Collaborate with psychology, occupational therapy, nursing, psychiatry, physiotherapy and social care colleagues.
• Deliver care across community settings, travelling between them.
