Speech & Language Teaching Assistant

Leeds | Full-Time | Permanent Opportunity Pay: £95-£115 per day

Are you passionate about helping children find their voice and reach their full potential?

I'm currently supporting schools across Leeds who are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic Speech & Language Teaching Assistants to work with pupils who need additional support with communication, language development, and social interaction.

This role is ideal for graduates or experienced support staff considering careers in Speech & Language Therapy, Educational Psychology, Teaching, or SEND Support.

The Role

You will play a key role in helping children develop their communication skills by:

• Supporting pupils with speech, language and communication needs
• Delivering 1:1 and small-group interventions
• Using communication strategies such as Makaton, PECS and visual aids
• Working alongside teachers, SENCOs and external professionals
• Encouraging confidence, independence and classroom participation
• Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment

What I'm Looking For

• A genuine passion for supporting children and young people
• Experience working with children, SEND, or vulnerable individuals is desirable
• Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or communication-based interventions is beneficial
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• A patient, caring and proactive approach
