Job summary

GSL Education are recruiting a Speech and Language Graduate to work in Scarborough within a specialist educational setting. You will provide targeted classroom, one-to-one, and small‑group support for learners with speech, language and communication needs, alongside other educational needs.

This role is ideal for graduates pursuing careers in Speech and Language Therapy, Educational Psychology, SEN, or Teaching, offering exposure to multidisciplinary teams and safeguarding experience.

Qualifications

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Provide an up-to-date CV with references covering the last 2 years.
  • Recent experience with children or young people or transferable setting.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS via Update Service or be willing to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Support learners with speech, language and communication needs via individual and small‑group interventions.
  • Assist teachers in delivering inclusive activities promoting communication and engagement.
  • Encourage development of social interaction, confidence and independence.
  • Implement communication strategies and support plans under guidance of teaching staff.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers and the support team.
  • Maintain a safe, positive and nurturing learning environment.

Start Date: September 2026
Salary Scale: £92 - £115 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a compassionate, enthusiastic, and motivated Speech and Language Graduate to work within a specialist educational setting in Scarborough.

This is an excellent opportunity for graduates aspiring to pursue careers in Speech and Language Therapy, Educational Psychology, SEN, or Teaching. You will work closely with experienced staff to support children and young people with a range of communication and interaction needs, helping them access learning and develop essential life skills.

About the Role:

As a Speech and Language Graduate, you will provide targeted classroom, one-to-one, and small‑group support for learners with speech, language, and communication needs, alongside a range of additional educational needs. You will help implement communication strategies and create an inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Support students with speech, language, and communication needs through individual and small‑group interventions
  • Assist teachers in delivering inclusive learning activities that promote communication and engagement
  • Encourage the development of social interaction, confidence, and independence
  • Implement communication strategies and support plans under the guidance of teaching staff and specialists
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and the wider support team
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, positive, and nurturing learning environment
Ideal Candidate:
  • A degree in Speech and Language Therapy, Linguistics, Psychology, Education, or a related subject
  • A genuine interest in supporting children and young people with communication and additional learning needs
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship‑building skills
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting learners
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience working with children or young people in education, care, or support settings is desirable but not essential
Requirements:

  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
