Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Preston is seeking a caring SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist Speech & Language and SEND Support Provision from October 2026 for the remainder of the academic year. You will support a small group of six pupils with Speech and Language needs within Year 1, working alongside two experienced colleagues to deliver targeted support.

The role offers weekly pay at £14.25 per hour, with potential for a permanent placement and a long-term opportunity in a welcoming school

Qualifications

• Must hold a UK-recognised qualification relating to childcare or TA support.
• Experience supporting children with SEND is desirable.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with Speech, Language and Communication Needs in Year 1.
• Work with two experienced colleagues in a small group within the provision.
• Deliver targeted support alongside teaching staff and SEND professionals.
• Encourage communication, confidence and independence.
• Support pupils during wider school activities and events.
• Create a calm, inclusive learning environment.
