NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across various clinical and non-clinical roles. We provide acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to over 1.15 million people, and a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.
This is a permanent, full-time position with a shift pattern from Monday to Sunday, 5/7.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to work mainly with outpatient caseloads at Gartnavel General Hospital and the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre, with some inpatient sessions.
We welcome applications from those interested in working with general adult outpatients, both face-to-face and virtually. Experience in voice, fluency, and head and neck cancer is desirable but training can be provided.
The hospitals are busy acute settings. The role offers autonomy within the service, with excellent support from colleagues locally and across the wider service. Collaboration with colleagues in the North Sector, including Stobhill Hospital and Glasgow Royal Infirmary, is also involved.
We seek an enthusiastic and motivated therapist interested in developing and delivering innovative therapy approaches. There are many opportunities for professional development.
Applicants must be trained in dysphagia and have experience working as a Band 5/6 with adults with communication and swallowing difficulties. Well-developed interpersonal skills are essential, and supervisory or educational experience is beneficial. A degree in Speech and Language Therapy with current HCPC registration is required.
The successful candidate will participate in the unscheduled care rota, including weekends.
