Job description

We are delighted to advertise the following 2 vacancies in our friendly, innovative team. You will be joining a large team of 35 whole time equivalents in a diverse borough. We have a strong partnership with the local authority and can offer you a range of experience across the delivery of interventions to school-age children.

We have a high retention rate amongst staff and will work closely with you to tailor opportunities to develop your career. Currently, we have sessions available within the speech sound pathway and dysfluency pathways, in addition to the role described below.

We welcome applications from newly qualified staff as well as those with some experience, and therefore would consider offering this post as a Band 6 or a Band 5/6 run through.

The post holder will have a varied role, supported and guided by senior staff.

Main duties of the job
  1. Supporting children and young people with Education, Health and Care plans who have a range of speech, language, and communication needs, attending Enfield mainstream primary and secondary schools and in specialist provisions (Additional Resource Provision or special school).
  2. Supporting children and young people and Education staff within special schools to develop facilitative communication environments and contribute to developing the curriculum to focus on communication throughout the day.
  3. Participating in CPD activities and contributing to departmental meetings, clinical audits, and projects.
  4. Delivering training, initially with a more senior colleague, to other professionals and parents/carers on all aspects of speech, language, and communication.
  5. Participating in the training of Speech and Language Therapy students and supervising the work of LSAs/TAs.
  6. Newly qualified therapists have the opportunity to be involved in a preceptorship programme.
  7. Supported by a network of clinical lead expert speech and language therapists who will help develop your skills and knowledge and provide team training.
  8. Operating a buddy scheme, where you will be allocated a therapist for informal support and guidance.
