Job summary

Hilton Food Group in Grimsby is seeking a Specification Technologist to ensure specifications meet customer and legal requirements. You will create and maintain product specifications, align them with finished products, and work with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate, right-first-time artwork.

The role requires experience with retailer specification systems, knowledge of Stage-Gate processes, and strong communication with internal and external customers.

Qualifications

• Experience with retailer specification systems (TQC, WPP advantageous)
• Knowledge of Stage and Gate or similar gated process steps
• General understanding of factory processes and documentation
• Food safety awareness
• Experience dealing with customers – internal and external
• Clear communication skills
• Understands internal and external customer needs and provides excellent service

Responsibilities

• Generate and maintain Manufacturing specifications aligned to finished product specifications
• Create and maintain accurate customer specifications on relevant platforms
• Collaborate with concept, process and technical teams to develop and check information
• Produce right first-time specifications to drive accurate artwork
• Ensure specifications and artwork comply with policy, legislation and customer guidelines
• Create accurate and fully populated own-brand specifications and pack copies
• Cross-check new internal factory specifications from NPD and maintain live specs
• Review Raw material, factory, QAS and finished product specs for consistency
• Prepare routine internal and customer reports related to specifications
• Be part of the artwork sign-off team
• Maintain a specification tracker showing status and review dates
• Provide cover for other Technical administration team members as needed

Role title: Specification Technologist

Location: Grimsby, both sites (primarily ER2 site)

Shift: Monday-Friday 08:00-16:00, some flexibility might berequired

Purpose of the role:

To ensure that the business meets its own, customer and legalrequirements, through accurate, approved and agreed specifications

To ensure that the business maintains customer and internal stakeholdersatisfaction through prompt and accurate specification completion.

As a Specification Technologist some of the responsibilities will be to:

• Support in the generation andmaintenance of Manufacturing specifications ensuring they are accuratelyaligned to the Finished product (customer) specification.
• Creation and maintenance ofaccurate customer specifications on the relevant customer platforms.
• Work closely with the concept,process and technical teams to gather, interpret and check relevantinformation through specification development
• Generation of right first-timespecifications that drive right first-time artwork
• Responsible for ensuring all newand existing product specifications and artwork are in line with relevantpolicy, legislation and customer guidelines.
• Creation of accurate and fullypopulated own brand specifications and pack copies
• Cross checking new internalfactory specifications provided by the NPD department and subsequentmaintenance of live factory specifications
• Overview of the Raw material,factory, QAS and finished product specifications to ensure that theinformation within them is accurate, correctly translated and alignedacross them.
• Preparation of routine internaland customer reports as required relating to specifications.
• Part of the artwork sign off team
• Maintenance of a specificationtracker, visible to the Technical team, that lists at which stage eachspecification is sitting and when it is due for a review
• To provide cover as required forother members of the Technical administration team across the business tocover absence or workload.

To succeed as a Specification Technologist, weask that you have the following experience/expertise:

• Experience with retailerspecification systems (TQC, WPP advantageous)
