Job summary

Straight Forward Recruitment Limited is seeking a Product Specification Technician in Brandon to manage product specifications and technical documentation across the full lifecycle. You will ensure data accuracy and regulatory compliance while supporting new product launches.

The role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and the ability to work with suppliers and internal teams across NPD, Product Development, Production and Quality. On-site hours are 08:00–16:00.

Responsibilities

• Create, maintain and update product specifications, technical documents and product data.
• Ensure specifications reflect approved formulations, components, packaging and manufacturing requirements.
• Manage specification changes throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Ensure all technical information is accurate, complete and approved before production.
• Support new product launches with NPD and Product Development teams.
• Liaise with suppliers to obtain and verify technical information and documentation.
• Maintain records of packaging components and finished products.
• Review artwork and product information to align with specs.
• Keep product documentation controlled, traceable and up to date.
• Support management of product data and technical records.
• Contribute to improvement of specification processes, systems and documentation.
• Support multiple projects with priority and deadlines.

Product Specification Technician

Salary: £28,000 per annum

Reporting to: Technical Managing Director / Project Manager

Hours: 08h00-16h00 – (30 min unpaid lunch break)

About the Role

We are looking for a highly organised and detail-focused Product Specification Technician to join our Product Development team in Brandon.

Working across the full product development lifecycle, you will be responsible for creating, maintaining and managing accurate product specifications and technical documentation. You will ensure that product information is complete, up to date, controlled and compliant with agreed customer and internal requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong attention to detail who enjoys working across multiple projects and collaborating with teams across NPD, Product Development, Production, Procurement, Quality, Regulatory and Artwork.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, maintain and update product specifications, technical documents and product data.
• Ensure specifications accurately reflect approved formulations, components, packaging and manufacturing requirements.
• Manage specification changes throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Ensure all technical information is accurate, complete and approved before products move into production.
• Work closely with NPD and Product Development teams to support new product launches.
• Liaise with suppliers to obtain, review and verify technical information, specifications and supporting documentation.
• Maintain accurate records of packaging components and finished products.
• Review artwork and product information to ensure they align with approved specifications.
• Maintain product documentation, ensuring information is controlled, traceable and kept up to date.
• Support the effective management of product data and technical records.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of specification processes, systems and documentation.
• Support multiple product development projects while managing priorities and deadlines effectively.

Desirable Experience

Experience within a product development, technical, specification, manufacturing or FMCG environment would be advantageous.

Experience working with product specifications, technical documentation, packaging information, product data or NPD processes would also be beneficial.
