Job summary

Avara Foods Limited is seeking a Specification Technologist to create finished product specifications and approve artwork in line with critical paths for successful launches.

You will work with Ingredients and Packaging Specification Technologists, liaise with NPD, and support site technical teams and retail customers across Midlands sites, including Dudley, Telford and Wednesbury. The role is primarily office-based but involves entry to factory environments and travel as required.

Qualifications

• Experience writing food specifications for major retailers' online systems and critical paths.
• Experience with retailer artwork approval systems and knowledge of Food Information for Consumers Regulation.
• Excellent attention to detail with ability to organise workload to meet key deadlines.
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills at all levels.
• Full driving license held.

Responsibilities

• Create finished product specifications and approve artwork per critical paths to support product launches.
• Collaborate with Ingredients and Packaging Specifications Technologist to finalise raw material and packaging specs.
• Work with NPD to integrate with the launch process for successful product introductions.
• Provide internal site technical support and liaise with retail customers externally.

About the Role:

Who are we, and what do we do?

You may not have heard of us, but there’s a good chance you’ve enjoyed our products. Avara Foods is one of the UK’s leading food businesses, supplying chicken and turkey to the country’s major supermarkets and well-known restaurants.

We own and manage our entire supply chain, from farms to factory and all the way to the customer door – meaning we have careers that cover a whole range of functions. We have major processing sites across England and Wales, and an agricultural network of over 350 farms, spanning from North Yorkshire to the South Coast and Wales.

Purpose of the role:

To create specifications for a range of customers, reviewing and approving artwork thoroughly which requires an eye for detail ensuring deadlines are met with consistent accuracy. Working within a team, building relationships across customer and colleague base.

The role is predominantly office based, but you will be required to enter the factory environment so at times you will be exposed to a refrigerated, noisy environment and you will be working Monday to Friday 08:00-17:00.

Travel across Midlands sites will be required (Dudley/Telford/Wednesbury).

Your key responsibilities as a Specification Technologist will include:

• Complete finished product specifications and approve artwork in accordance with critical paths to facilitate successful product launches.
• Work alongside Ingredients and Packaging Specifications Technologist to approve raw material and packaging specifications.
• Work closely with NPD to integrate with NPD launch process to ensure successful product launches.
• Internal liaison and support for Site Technical and external liaison for retail customers.

What we are looking for:

• Food related Further Education qualification
• Experience of writing food specifications with knowledge of major retailers' online specification systems and critical paths.
• Experience of retailer artwork approval systems and in-depth knowledge of the Food Information for Consumers Regulation.
• Excellent attention to detail whilst being able to organise workload to achieve key deadlines.
• Self-motivated
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing at all levels
• Full Driving License
