Job summary

Mitchell Maguire is recruiting a Specification Sales Manager – Wood Repair to drive epoxy resins and fillers sales through specifiers and local authorities in the South Home Counties. You will manage a £1m area with 60% focus on winning specifications and 20% on stimulating demand with contractors.

The role requires field sales experience in building products, a personable, proactive approach and the ability to develop relationships with QS/architects and suppliers. Hybrid car benefits provided.

Qualifications

• Must have specification field sales experience within building products/construction industry (ideally 2 years+)
• Ideally sold to contractors but must understand the specification sales process
• Team player, comfortable working in a buddy system
• Open to most product field sales backgrounds, but ideally resins/fillers/coatings/adhesives or timber/joinery products
• Contacts within quantity surveyors, architects, local authorities, heritage companies or property management organisations

Responsibilities

• Field sales position selling epoxy resins and fillers for wood repair

• 20% stimulating demand for product with main contractors and specialist joinery and timber sub-contractors

• Inherited area turnover of circa £1m with target to grow by 20% next year
• Work in a buddy system with a Technical Account Manager for site inspections, surveys and training
• Project sizes up to £30,000 with average order value £10,000–£20,000

Area to be covered: South Home Counties (Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Berkshire, Hampshire)

Remuneration: £50,000 £55,000. + Up to £8,000 Bonus and £2,500-£5,000 Profit Share

The role of the Specification Sales Manager – Painting & Decorating will involve:

• Field sales position, selling a range of epoxy resins and fillers for wood repair
• 60% of your time winning specifications with predominantly quantity surveyors and architects and other specifiers within local authorities, Heritage companies and property management organisations
• 20% stimulating demand for product with main contractors and specialist joinery and timber sub-contractors
• 20% of your time managing relationships with paint manufacturers and conducting project visits and doing all associated admin
• Inheriting an area with a turnover of circa £1m
• Tasked with growing the area by 20% next year
• Initially 70% new business development, 30% account management, although this will change to 80% account management over time as all won projects are retained
• Working in a “buddy system” with a Technical Account Manager who will be responsible for all site inspections, site surveys and training for customers
• Project sizes up to £30,000, with an average order value of circa £10,000-£20,000

The ideal applicant will be a Specification Sales Manager – Painting & Decorating with:

• Must have specification field sales experience within the building products/ construction industry (ideally 2 years+)

• Outgoing, empathetic and tonnes of charisma
