About the Role

North Devon offers a great environment for work and living, with beaches, surf, good schools, and excellent links to Exeter. We seek a psychiatry specialist to join our friendly, cohesive multidisciplinary team to provide clinical input and support to the Community Mental Health Team serving adults aged 18-65 in the North Devon Taw area.

This is a full-time, community-based position based at West Pilton Health and Wellbeing Clinic, Barnstaple, with support from a Consultant Nurse, Approved Clinician, and Consultant Psychiatrist. The role includes constructing personal development plans, weekly SPA time, study leave, and funding for CPD. The post is fixed-term for 24 months.

Main Responsibilities

• Assess and treat patients with severe mental illness and complex needs.
• Conduct physical health assessments for safe initiation and review of psychotropic medications.
• Collaborate with other services and attend MDT meetings for clinical decision-making.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• MB BS or equivalent, GMC registration, experience in General Psychiatry.
• Excellent communication skills, flexibility, punctuality, honesty, well-organized, and committed to CPD.

Desirable Skills

• Membership of Royal College of Psychiatrists, ability to critically examine practice, and registration as a prescriber.

Additional Requirements

• Experience at SHO level or above, commitment to clinical governance, and ability to manage physical and mental health emergencies.
