Job summary

Stockport NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a General Ophthalmology clinician to provide services across theatre, eye casualty and general clinics, under the supervision of a consultant ophthalmologist. The post-holder will develop a subspecialty interest, participate in theatre sessions, hold a 24-hour on-call roster, and engage in triage of referrals as well as research and audits.

Job description

The primary purpose of the position is to provide a general ophthalmology service based at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, the key responsibilities for this role are to provide general Ophthalmic services under the supervision of a consultant Ophthalmologist, working across theatre, specialist eye casualty and general clinics, supporting with triage of referrals and working as part of the on call 24 hour cover for emergencies as part of the 1 in 8 on call rota.

To provide general Ophthalmic services, under the supervision of a consultant ophthalmologist. The post-holder would also be supported to develop a particular interest in a subspeciality area, complete clinical sessions in theatre, specialist and general clinics, support the eye department 24 hour on call for emergencies as part of the non-resident on call rota, be involved in triage of referrals and supported professional activities including research and audit.

To have excellent team working skills and the abilities and professional attitude to work well in a multi-disciplinary team. To deliver clinical and quality targets both agreed nationally and locally.

Duties will be divided between direct care delivery and supporting activities such as administration and professional development.
