Job description

We have been assigned by one of the UK's most prestigious NHS Trusts to assist in recruiting a Specialist Doctor in Ophthalmology for a 12-month fixed-term or substantive position to join their successful Ophthalmology department.

Department Overview

The department currently offers comprehensive general ophthalmology services, including a well-established Macular unit treating Maculopathy (AMD and Non-AMD), retina services, glaucoma, cornea, and oculoplastics. The hospital provides a range of services such as Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units, and various Consultant-led services. Additional facilities include an Urgent Treatment Centre for non-life-threatening conditions, outpatient clinics, diagnostics, therapies, day case, and inpatient surgeries. Community outreach services and diagnostics are also available.

Role Responsibilities
  1. Providing outpatient clinics, including urgent referrals
  2. Preparing patients for elective and emergency theatre sessions
  3. Managing routine and emergency admissions
  4. Participating in the on-call rota and providing cover as needed
  5. Attending weekly multidisciplinary team meetings
  6. Engaging in continuing medical education and clinical audits
  7. Applying evidence-based practice where appropriate

Join a department of 12 Consultants and 9 Associate Specialists. The location offers the benefits of urban and rural living, with excellent transport links to Birmingham, London, and two international airports.
