Job summary

SENse Learning is recruiting Specialist Teachers to provide one-to-one support for SEND learners in homes, online, or in the community, across SEND, SEMH, MLD and SLD needs. These self-employed roles offer flexible hours and the option of in-person, hybrid, or remote teaching, with scheduling arranged with families, carers, or schools to deliver trauma-informed, engaging tutoring and pathway support.

Qualifications

• 2+ years post-NQT teaching experience, ideally with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and/or PMLD in a holistic approach.
• QTS or QTLS status is required.
• Enhanced DBS and 2+ professional references are expected.
• UK-based with the right to work in the UK, even for remote roles.
• Safeguarding knowledge and practice are essential.

Responsibilities

• Develop strong relationships with SEND learners and tailor tutoring to individual needs.
• Provide in-person, online/remote, and hybrid sessions with trauma-informed approaches.
• Plan and report on lessons, track progress, and adjust plans accordingly.

Specialist Teacher Role Requirements

• Experience: 2+ years of post-NQT teaching experience, ideally working with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and/or PMLD in a holistic and trauma-informed way
• Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS)
• Approach: Understanding of how to work in a child-centred, holistic way; you will have the ingenuity and creativity to make the curriculum work in an individual, student-centred way.
• Compliance: Enhanced DBS (we can facilitate this if needed) and 2+ professional references
• Location: You must be based in the UK with the right to work in the UK, even for remote/online jobs
• Safeguarding: Knowledge of safeguarding and creating a safe learning environment.

The Specialist Teacher Role And Responsibilities

• Develop strong relationships with children and young people who have a range of needs and who have often experienced significant difficulties in previous education settings.
• Provide in person, online/remote, and hybrid support to children, teenagers, and young people with SEMH and SEND needs, including MLD, SLD, PMLD, and other Additional Educational Needs
• Support pupils and students, ranging from KS1 – KS5 (as appropriate for your skills), referred by local authorities and schools by planning and delivering flexible, trauma-informed tutoring and mentoring tailored to the young person’s needs, EHCP, and risk assessment
• Plan and report for lessons and provide regular feedback on student progress
