Job summary

SENse Learning is seeking passionate tutors to provide one-to-one support for SEND learners in homes and community settings, across SEND specialisms. Roles include Specialist Teacher, Intervention Tutor, and SEND Teacher, with interview scheduling as applications are received.

These SEND Tutor roles are self-employed, offer flexible hours, and allow in-person, hybrid, and online teaching. Pay ranges from £35–£45 per hour and applications are being accepted continuously.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years post-NQT teaching experience with SEND/SEMH preferred.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) required.
  • Trauma-informed approach to teaching.
  • DBS check and professional references.

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-person, online/remote, and hybrid tutoring and mentoring.
  • Plan and report lessons with regular progress feedback.
  • Collaborate with families and schools to tailor sessions.
  • Deliver trauma-informed tutoring across KS1–KS5 as appropriate.

SEND Tutor Role Requirements
  • Experience: 2+ years of post-NQT teaching experience, ideally working with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and/or PMLD in a holistic and trauma-informed way
  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS)
  • Approach: Understanding of how to work in a child-centred, holistic way; you will have the ingenuity and creativity to make the curriculum work in an individual, student-centred way.
  • Compliance: Enhanced DBS (we can facilitate this if needed) and 2+ professional references
  • Location: You must be based in the UK with the right to work in the UK, even for remote/online jobs
  • Safeguarding: Knowledge of safeguarding and creating a safe learning environment.
The SEND Tutor Role And Responsibilities
  • Develop strong relationships with children and young people who have a range of needs and who have often experienced significant difficulties in previous education settings.
  • Provide in person, online/remote, and hybrid support to children, teenagers, and young people with SEMH and SEND needs, including MLD, SLD, PMLD, and other Additional Educational Needs
  • Support pupils and students, ranging from KS1 – KS5 (as appropriate for your skills), referred by local authorities and schools by planning and delivering flexible, trauma-informed tutoring and mentoring tailored to the young persons needs, EHCP, and risk assessment
  • Plan and report for lessons and provide regular feedback on student progress
