Job summary

Birmingham City Council is recruiting three full-time Specialist Teachers to join the Communication and Autism Team (CAT) in Birmingham. Roles support children and young people with autism and social communication needs across mainstream and specialist provision, as part of the SEND Reform journey.

You will work with schools, families and partner agencies, deliver Neuroinclusive Education training, and contribute to school partnership plans while maintaining pupil records and collaborating in

• Must hold Qualified Teacher Status.

Responsibilities

• Raise achievement and promote inclusion for pupils with autism and social communication difficulties.
• Work with schools to improve access to learning and whole-school practice.
• Deliver specialist training including Neuroinclusive Education Trust programmes and CPD for schools and services.
• Plan and prepare targeted support for pupils, schools and parents based on CAT levels and School Partnership Plans.
• Assess and report on pupil development, progress and attainment using appropriate tools.
• Model specialist teaching and provide 1:1 pupil support where needed.
• Contribute to statutory processes including attendance at meetings and annual reviews.
• Provide guidance on teaching methods and resources for autism and communication needs.
