Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is recruiting Specialist Teachers of Communication and Autism to join the Specialist Teaching Service. The role supports SEND reforms and the Experts at Hand programme, helping schools build capacity and improve outcomes for children and young people with SEND aged 5–19.

You will work with school leaders, SENCOs, families and multi-agency partners to identify needs, contribute to EHCPs and annual reviews, and deliver assessment, advice and training to strengthen

Qualifications

• Degree level qualification and Qualified Teacher Status with evidence of further professional development in autism or communication and interaction.
• Specialist qualification in autism or related SEND area desirable.
• Substantial experience with school-age children and autistic/communication needs.

Responsibilities

• Support children aged 5–19 with communication and interaction needs, including autistic learners.
• Contribute to EHCP assessments, annual reviews and other statutory processes.
• Provide assessment, advice, consultation and training to schools and partners.
