Job summary

Vetro Recruitment is seeking an experienced Specialist Speech & Language Therapist to support children across Cardiff and Swansea schools. This term-time-only position offers a flexible 41-week year, delivering targeted communication support for pupils with autism, learning disabilities, and other complex needs.

You will conduct assessments, plan interventions, and train staff, families, and carers while contributing to EHCP/IDP reviews and service development.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Speech & Language Therapy.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Experience with autistic pupils and complex needs.
• Knowledge of SEND legislation and evidence-based practice.
• Experience delivering training, coaching, mentoring, or workforce development.
• Willingness to undertake training in Dysphagia, AAC, PECS, Makaton.
• Strong communication, organisation, and report-writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Delivering specialist assessment, diagnosis and intervention for pupils with complex communication needs.
• Managing a varied caseload including pupils with autism and learning disabilities.
• Supporting communication, AAC and eating/drinking needs.
• Developing and implementing individualised therapy programmes.
• Providing consultation, coaching and practical support to education and care colleagues.
• Delivering training to staff, families and carers.
• Leading communication-friendly environments across schools.
• Contributing to EHCP/IDP reviews and multidisciplinary planning.
