Job summary

Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to provide a specialist service across Doncaster Community Learning Disability Services and Amber Lodge Low Secure Forensic Service.

You will independently assess, diagnose and manage adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex communication and swallowing needs, contributing to Positive Behaviour Support pathways and multidisciplinary formulations.

Qualifications

• Professional degree in Speech Sciences (BSc).
• HCPC registration required.
• Post-basic training in dysphagia assessment and management.
• Member of RCSLT (Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists).
• HCPC recognised training in specialist areas. Desirable: Advanced dysphagia qualification or AAC knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Independently assess, diagnose and manage complex communication and swallowing difficulties.
• Deliver specialist interventions for adults with learning disabilities and autism.
• Contribute to Positive Behaviour Support and forensic care pathways.
• Support MCA processes through communication assessments.
• Work in a multidisciplinary team with psychology, nursing, psychiatry and OT colleagues.
• Develop and deliver training for carers and staff.
• Contribute to audits, quality improvement and clinical governance.
• Supervise junior staff and support workers.
