Job summary

NHS Lanarkshire is seeking a qualified Speech and Language Therapist to join a multidisciplinary team. You will deliver specialist services for clients with communication, feeding, and swallowing difficulties across diverse settings.

The role requires HCPC registration, a relevant degree, and postgraduate expertise to lead complex cases. A UK driving licence and commitment to high standards are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Speech and Language Pathology or equivalent.
• Registered with HCPC to practice as a Speech and Language Therapist.
• Postgraduate expertise within speciality demonstrates breadth of knowledge.
• Knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards relevant to practice.
• Full UK/EU driving licence may be required.

The Role

• As part of a multidisciplinary/agency team, the post holder will manage a defined caseload, using evidence based practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
• To deliver comprehensive specialist Speech and Language Therapy services to clients with a variety of communication difficulties and/or eating/drinking/swallowing difficulties.
• This service will be delivered in a variety of settings.
• The post holder is expected to have relevant clinical skills, knowledge and experience across a broad spectrum of diagnosis and aetiologies.
• Duties and location may vary depending on the client group/aspect and demands of the service/level of experience.

In This Key Role, You Will

• All clinical decision making will be based on the Care Aims philosophy utilising the Care Aims model which will ensure that risk, impact and clinical need are articulated and outcomes evaluated through continuous reflection.
• To use specialist clinical knowledge to provide comprehensive assessment and differential diagnosis, intervention and discharge as appropriate for specialist aspects of communication, language, speech, voice, fluency and dysphagia.
• To use specialist knowledge to inform sound clinical judgments/decision making for complex cases.
• To provide specialist advice to others e.g. parents, carers, other professionals, regarding the management of clients with communication, feeding and swallowing difficulties.

What You'll Bring

• Degree in Speech and Language Pathology or equivalent
• Registered Speech and Language Therapist with valid HCPC Registration
• Post Graduate expertise within speciality/area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safely, effectively and efficiently.
• Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality/area of practice.
• A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
