An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 6 Speech & Language Therapist in communication and dysphagia, to join our team based in South Kirklees (Huddersfield District) working within the community stroke team & wider service.
Based in South Kirklees, Locala Adult Speech and Language Therapy service provides comprehensive care for adults in various community settings. We offer specialist triage, assessment, differential diagnosis, and treatment/discharge recommendations for adults with acquired communication difficulties, eating, drinking, and swallowing difficulties (EDS), and neurogenic voice problems. We utilize a hybrid approach of virtual and face-to-face care.
This role requires a motivated and innovative individual to work within this established service, and it is essential that you can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Experience in community settings and delivering expert care to patients in their homes, care homes, or clinics is necessary.
You should be confident in managing a caseload independently, assessing and treating patients with neurological communication and swallowing difficulties, including conditions like MND, Parkinson’s, stroke, MS, and dementia. As a Specialist SLT, you will contribute to training, clinical supervision, and maintaining competencies of colleagues within the team, supported by the Clinical Leads and Team Leader. Excellent communication, IT skills, and flexibility are essential.
