Job description

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in a range of settings across different aspects of the speech and language therapy service, with a specific focus on supporting paediatric dysphagia.

The post holder will excel in working independently and enjoy delivering therapy to children and young people in a variety of settings, including virtually.

The successful candidate will be a member of a highly motivated and supportive Speech and Language Therapy Team and have access to supervision and team meetings. There will be opportunities for you to develop clinical skills across a range of specialisms, as well as mentoring and supervision opportunities.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will hold an appropriate Speech and Language Therapy degree; postgraduate training in paediatric dysphagia; be able to work independently as well as part of a team; and have experience of working with children with eating and drinking difficulties as well as speech, language and communication difficulties.

This post will require the Therapist to engage with the child and their family, with schools and within nursery settings to ensure the provision of a comprehensive specialist speech and language therapyservice to a range of care groups . This includes specialistassessment, differential diagnosis, clinical decision making and provision ofappropriate levels of intervention based on best practice.

The post holder will frequently work alone and unsupervised; support (and work with) junior colleagues; contribute to discussions on proposed local clinical guidelines, protocols and care packages and attend speech and language therapy team meetings, inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary meetings.

This post requires the candidate to drive to various locations across Essex.
