What You’ll Do:

1. Lead assessments, diagnoses, and treatments for adults with communication and swallowing disorders, working across HASU and SRU.
2. Play a pivotal role in tracheostomy management, videofluoroscopy clinics, and FEES assessments, helping shape treatment plans and recovery.
3. Take the lead in complex discharge planning, working collaboratively with the MDT to ensure smooth, effective transitions for patients from hospital to home.
4. Take charge of clinical leadership within the Stroke MDT, driving service development, governance, audit, and QI initiatives.
5. Mentor and inspire a team of Band 6 and Band 5 SLTs, supporting their professional growth.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a Highly Specialist SLT based at the Royal London Hospital, a major trauma centre leading the trauma network for North East London and Essex. The role involves providing specialist services to adult patients, focusing on communication, swallowing, and tracheostomy management, working closely with a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will lead and coordinate interventions, supervise junior staff, and contribute to service development, managing a caseload of complex cases and participating in training and education.
