Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a caring SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties at a specialist school in Knowle, Solihull. You will help pupils access learning, develop communication skills and build independence in a safe, nurturing setting.

You will provide tailored one-to-one and small-group support, assist with personal care where required, follow individual plans, work with teachers and the SENCO, and promote positive behaviour and inclusion to help pupils

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND, ideally severe learning difficulties.
• Patience, empathy and a nurturing approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Confident supporting pupils with complex learning and care needs.
• Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• Willing to undertake relevant training.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with severe learning difficulties.
• Support pupils with learning, communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.
• Assist with personal care and daily living activities where required, maintaining pupils' dignity and promoting independence.
• Support pupils with sensory and complex needs, following individual support plans.
• Work closely with teachers, the SENCO, healthcare professionals and other staff.
• Encourage pupils to participate in classroom activities and wider school life.
• Promote positive behaviour, emotional well-being and inclusion.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times.
