Job summary

The Education Network is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant for a Specialist SEND School in Birmingham. You will provide a mix of classroom, small-group and 1-2-1 support to help pupils access learning and build confidence.

Experience with SEND is highly desirable, though strong mainstream TAs with an interest in SEND will be considered. You will work with experienced teachers and SEND professionals to create an enabling learning environment and help pupils progress daily.

Qualifications

• Experience working with pupils with SEND is highly desirable, particularly within a special school or similar setting.
• Strong classroom support and inclusion background is beneficial.
• Willingness to work with pupils with diverse learning needs and adapt approaches.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted support to pupils with SEND across the school day
• Work 1-2-1 and with small groups where required
• Support pupils to access learning and classroom activities
• Help develop communication, confidence and independence
• Support pupils with their individual learning and development targets
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
• Support positive behaviour and emotional regulation
• Work closely with teachers and specialist SEND staff
• Adapt your approach to meet individual needs
• Contribute to a safe, calm and positive learning environment
