Job summary

First For Education is currently seeking an experienced SEND Teacher for a specialist school in South Birmingham. This full-time, long-term role focuses on supporting children with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and SEMH needs, delivering personalised education and fostering emotional wellbeing.

You will teach, differentiate lessons, manage behaviours, and work with a multidisciplinary team to promote pupil development and independence. DBS and QTS are required for placement.

Qualifications

  • QTS is required to teach in a specialist SEND setting.
  • Experience teaching pupils with SEND is essential.
  • Strong understanding of Autism (ASC) and SEMH is needed.
  • Experience implementing personalised learning strategies and supporting emotional regulation.
  • Excellent classroom management and positive behaviour support.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to learners with ASC/SEMH.
  • Support pupils with Autism, SEMH and communication needs.
  • Create a structured, inclusive learning environment.
  • Apply positive behaviour strategies and monitor pupil progress.
  • Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists and the multidisciplinary team.
