Job summary

Long Term Futures is seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of complex needs in a Barnet specialist school. You will work 1:1 and in small groups, helping students access personalised learning activities and implement EHCPs.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with ASC, MLD/SLD, SEMH.
• Calm, patient and nurturing approach with positive relationships.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of additional needs.
• Support students to access personalised learning activities both inside and outside the classroom.
• Assist with the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual learning strategies.
• Promote communication, independence, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
• Work closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to deliver consistent, high-quality support.
• Adapt resources and learning approaches to meet individual student needs.
• Support pupils with sensory regulation, emotional wellbeing, and behaviour using positive behaviour strategies.
• Encourage students to develop confidence, resilience, and life skills.
• Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to teaching staff.
• Help maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment where every pupil can thrive.
