Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a Specialist SEN Support Assistant to work in Salford, supporting students aged 11–19 with a range of needs within a secondary and post-16 provision.

You will support learning, adapt activities, promote positive behaviour, and work with teachers, therapists, and support staff to help students access education and develop essential life skills.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people with SEN/SEMH/additional learning needs is desirable.
• Backgrounds in education, care, support work, youth work, health care, or psychology are welcomed.
• A patient, resilient and empathetic approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to remain calm and adaptable in challenging situations.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

Are you passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and helping them achieve their full potential? Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a Specialist SEN Support Assistant to work within a well-established secondary and post-16 special educational needs provision supporting students aged 11-19 years.

This welcoming and inclusive setting supports learners with a range of moderate and complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, learning difficulties, speech and language needs, sensory needs, SEMH challenges, and associated communication difficulties. The provision is committed to creating a nurturing environment where students can develop academically, socially, and emotionally through tailored support and structured learning opportunities.

The Role

As a Specialist SEN Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping students access learning, build confidence, and develop essential life skills both inside and outside the classroom.
