Job summary

Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a qualified School Nurse (Band 6) to join the 0-19 team in Reading. The role involves delivering core and targeted services to children aged 5-19 and their families, with leadership across the team and collaboration with Health Visiting colleagues.

This is a term-time only position (39 weeks) with a flexible mix of clinical and community engagement, including travel between multiple sites within Reading.

Qualifications

• Registered Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (School Nursing) on the NMC register.
• Willing to undertake relevant training as needed.
• Ability to lead and work collaboratively within 0-19 public health nursing teams.

Responsibilities

• Deliver school drop-in sessions to selected primary and senior schools.
• Manage a defined caseload independently addressing health needs using evidence-based practice.
• Undertake in-depth health assessments for Children in Care, those on Child Protection Plans, and vulnerable children.
• Ensure efficient use of human and physical resources within the team through delegation and resource use.
• Provide targeted health interventions to children and young people with identified needs.
• Exercise leadership and management to ensure high standards of clinical care.
