Job summary

Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Specialist School Nurse to support children and young people with complex needs in Bracknell. The role is based mainly at Kennel Lane School, with a fixed-term contract for the 2026/27 academic year, Monday–Friday core hours 08:00–17:00.

The post requires NMC registration as a Children’s Nurse or qualification as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (School Nursing) or Learning Disabilities Nurse.

Qualifications

We are excited to offer a new opportunity within our expanding team for a Specialist School Nurse. This role is ideal for a passionate and dedicated professional who is committed to supporting children and young people (CYP) with complex needs and learning disabilities.

As part of our friendly and skilled community-based team, you will deliver high-quality nursing care to CYP across East Berkshire. Based primarily at Kennel Lane School in Bracknell, you will play a key role in providing a seamless and compassionate service to children, young people and their families.

This is a fixed-term position for the 2026/27 academic year and we are looking for someone who has ONE of the following qualifications; NMC-registeredChildren's Nurse OR Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (School Nursing), OR Learning Disabilities Nurse.

This is a part-time role, with flexibility to work within core hours of 08:00–17:00, Monday to Friday.

• Lead the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of evidence-based nursing care in collaboration with the Community Children's Nursing (CCN) Team.
• Deliver training, mentoring and care planning for staff nurses, nursery nurses, support workers and school staff using competency-based training packages.
• Develop and maintain individualised care plans for pupils.
• Work closely with safeguarding and children-in-care teams, contributing to reports and attending relevant meetings.
