Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) invites two permanent Band 6 Podiatrists to join the Community Podiatry team in Central Manchester. You will manage complex foot ulcer cases and engage in nail surgery, core podiatry, and musculoskeletal clinics.

Role offers varied settings across community and outpatient clinics, wards and patients’ homes, with collaboration with hospital diabetes teams and weekly ward rounds. CPD and audits encouraged for professional growth.

Responsibilities

Main duties of the job

• Versatile Work Settings: Provide care across acute settings, community clinics, residential and nursing homes, day centres, and patients' homes.


• Patient Treatment Management: Actively manage treatment programmes in line with care planning and discharge guidelines.


• Collaborative Decision-Making: Use the decision-making processes to identify when patients need referrals to other professionals or specialist areas, following agreed pathways.


• Nail Surgery: Perform nail surgery (undertaking procedures under supervision if not already proficient).


• Specialist Rotations: Participate in rotations in areas such as nail surgery, diabetes, patho-mechanics, and vascular care.


• Orthoses Provision: Arrange for orthoses, pressure-relieving insoles, and shoe inserts as needed.


• Workload Planning: Plan and manage your daily workload for wards, clinics, home visits, and visits to residential and nursing homes.


• Flexibility: Provide cover for other podiatrists at short notice or during absences, covering sites across North Manchester.


• Administrative Duties: Complete all necessary administrative tasks associated with the role.


• Additional Duties: Perform any other duties as required by the department.


• Compliance: Adhere to all Trust policies, guidelines, and procedures.
