Job summary

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is seeking a pharmacist to join the Emergency and Specialist Medicine team, spanning the LRI and LGH sites. You will provide daily clinical pharmacy care on wards, prescribe and review medications, and support audit and teaching activities within a multidisciplinary team.

The role includes rota cover, evenings, on-call, bank holidays and weekends, with a focus on acute medicine, stroke and rheumatology, and requires at least two years post-registration

Qualifications

• GPhC registration as a pharmacist.
• At least two years post-registration experience.

Job description

This pharmacist post sits in the Emergency and Specialist Medicine team at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, working across the LRI and LGH sites within a multidisciplinary team. What the job involves

• Deliver optimum pharmaceutical care to patients on specified wards and clinics for the clinical directorate, at a level of clinical input suited to the grade
• Prescribe and review medication for therapeutic effectiveness, in line with evidence-based practice, national and local protocols and within scope of practice
• Pursue audit, research and development within the CMG and department, and publicise results through presentations and publications
• Assist with the training and development of staff
• Contribute to evening, on-call, bank holiday and weekend rotas
• Support the improvement of pharmacy services
• Help develop and lead local initiatives, such as flow and discharge processes, with specialties
