St George's Academy requires a Specialist Learning Support Assistant to support students with SEMH and SEND inside a dedicated department. The role is 32.5 hours per week during 39 weeks of the year, with hours 8:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday.
You will work with individuals or small groups to apply strategies that improve learning, and coordinate with teaching and pastoral staff on EHCP processes where appropriate. Strong communication, organisational and IT skills are essential.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Specialist Learning Support Assistant who is keen be part of a team supporting the work of a successful department.
The role will work 32.5 hours per week, term time for 39 weeks per year. Usual working hours are 8:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday.
Playing a pivotal role in the continued growth of Academy’s Alternative Provision, you will be required to work with students with particular needs related to social, emotional, mental health and undiagnosed special educational needs (SEND).
Including students who do not currently have an EHCP but who may need one, the role will primarily involve working with individual or small groups of students to:
Providing one to one support
The successful applicant will have excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills and experience of working with or caring for young people. You should also have knowledge and experience of using Microsoft Office, in particular MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
The ideal candidate will hold an NVQ2 Level in Learning Support or equivalent qualification in a related area or have the ability to demonstrate equivalent relevant experience. Evidence of an existing qualification and / or training related to SEMH is also preferred but not essential as training can be arranged for the right candidate.
