Job summary

St Hild’s Church of England School, part of the NEAT Academy Trust, is recruiting a Specialist Learning Support Assistant on a fixed-term basis to 31 August 2027. Under a qualified teacher, you will support learning across individuals, groups, and classes, contributing to high-quality teaching and inclusive practice.

You will plan, prepare and deliver activities, assess pupil needs for development plans, and work with staff and external specialists to support vulnerable learners within a caring

  • Awareness of safeguarding, child protection and SEND Code of Practice.
  • Ability to empathise with pupils and build positive relationships.
  • Consistent implementation of agreed behaviour strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver learning activities to individuals, groups and classes.
  • Liaise with staff to assess pupil needs and develop Individual Development Plans.
  • Provide targeted support for pupils with learning, behavioural, communication, social, sensory or physical difficulties.
  • Collaborate with teachers, specialists and external agencies for multi-agency approaches.

What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for a colleague who has:

  • Working at or towards the competency standards for Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA).
  • Awareness of policy, procedures, and legislation relating to child protection, health and safety, and the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Ability to empathise with the needs of children and in particular able to establish positive relationships with pupils.
  • Abilityto consistently and effectively implement agreed behaviour management strategies.

Further details about the role

This post is fixed term to 31st August 2027 and term time only plus 5 training days. We are seeking to appoint a Specialist Learning Support Assistants to collaborate closely with teachers in planning and delivering high-quality programmes of teaching and learning. Under the direction and supervision of a qualified teacher, you will undertake educational activities with individuals, groups, or whole classes.

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver specified learning activities to individuals, groups, and whole classes.
  • Liaise with teaching staff to assess pupil needs and assist in the preparation, development, and implementation of Individual Development Plans.
  • Provide targeted support for pupils with learning, behavioural, communication, social, sensory, or physical difficulties.
  • Partner with teachers, external education/health specialists, and outside agencies to develop multi-agency approaches.
