Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our gastroenterology team at Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. We have a vacancy for a fixed term (until April 2026), band 6 gastroenterology dietitian with a focus on disorders of gut brain interaction (DGBI)/functional gut disorders (FGD).
The Gastro dietetic team consists of an 8C Consultant medical gastroenterology Dietitian, a band 8A clinical lead, 2 x band 7 dietitians, 2 x band 6 dietitians and a 0.6 WTE band 4 dietetic assistant.
The post will work predominantly at St Thomas' Hospitals outpatients doing virtual phone and video clinics with a focus on disorders of gut-brain interaction.
The successful gastroenterology dietetic candidate will have responsibility for the IBS outpatient clinics, group education, and developing the IBS dietetic gastro services.
You will specifically need knowledge of dietary management of DGBI/IBS, healthy eating for good gut health, Low FODMAPs diet, and constipation management. Some knowledge of coeliac disease will be beneficial to deliver an expert dietetic service to outpatients. The important role of nutrition is valued and well recognised by the gastroenterology medical and surgical teams.
The post holders will be joining a team of over 100 Dietitians working across Guy's, St Thomas', the Evelina Children's Hospital, The Royal Brompton and Harefield, and Lambeth, Southwark community services. The department has a strong commitment to research and teaching.
