The successful applicant will support the existing dermatology team in providing inpatient and outpatient dermatology services, including dermatology opinions for inpatient referrals, virtual triage, and electronic advice & guidance (teledermatology) to GPs. They will work independently, following patient allocations by the Consultant Dermatologist team, participate in weekly skin cancer MDT meetings, and collaborate closely with and supervise the multi-professional team within the dermatology department. Additionally, they will participate in supervision and training of other healthcare professionals, including GPs with extended roles in West Dorset, according to local agreements.
The dermatology service for West Dorset is based at Dorset County Hospital, with a weekly high-volume fast-track skin lesion clinic at South Walks House in Dorchester, and a monthly clinic at Blandford Community Hospital, with potential for expansion. The workload in 2023/24 was 4,599 new patients and 4,399 follow-ups.
