Job summary

NHS Lanarkshire is seeking an experienced Dietitian to provide evidence-based nutrition care within a specialist field. You will act as an expert resource for patients, other health professionals and GPs, delivering high standards of practice and leading education for clinical staff.

You will maintain HCPC registration, demonstrate ongoing CPD, and contribute to service development while leading in training initiatives and reporting on clinical activities.

Qualifications

• Registered Dietitian with HCPC registration.
• Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level.
• Postgraduate expertise within specialty demonstrating breadth of knowledge to lead safety and quality.
• Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards.
• Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and attendance at study days/courses/postgraduate qualification.
• Strong team leadership skills and ability to motivate others.

Responsibilities

• Communicate complex information to patients and present it understandably.
• Provide clinical support and contribute to service development.
• Lead in identifying training and education needs of staff and external partners.
• Represent Nutrition and Dietetic Services Manager for operational issues.

The Role

To act as an expert practitioner selecting, assessing, planning and delivering evidence based, nutrition and dietetic care to patients within a specialist field.

In general, to act as a source of expertise for patients, within the speciality, other health care professionals, GPs and Consultants.

In this key role, you will:

• Communicate and receive complex and sensitive information and present this in an understandable form to patients which may include giving unwelcome or difficult to accept information.
• Work within the British Dietetic Association Code of Professional Conduct, Health Professions Council (HPC) Standards and demonstrate relevant professional development activities and the maintenance of expertise, knowledge and skills, including CPD, membership of specialist interest groups and maintaining personal CPD portfolio.
• Lead in identifying training, planning, developing, executing and evaluating training and education needs of clinical colleagues, other health care staff and external agencies, within areas of clinical speciality.
• Act on behalf of the Nutrition and Dietetic Services Manager for operational issues, to provide clinical support and contribute to service development, including representation at meetings.
• Generate reports/information on clinical, educational or health improvement activities as requested by Nutrition and Dietetic Services Manager.

What You'll Bring:

• Registered Dietitian with valid HCPC Registration
• Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level
• Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
• Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.
• Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification
• The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative.
