Job summary

Perth Royal Infirmary, part of NHS Scotland, is seeking a Band 6 Specialist Community Dietitian to join a Tayside team. The post focuses on community-based nutritional care, including nutrition support and home enteral feeding in Perthshire settings.

You will collaborate with health colleagues, contribute to service development, and provide occasional ward cover at the infirmary. Strong teamwork and independent working are essential, and supervision of Dietetic Support Workers is included.

Qualifications

• Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
• Experience in community-based nutrition care and dietetics.

Responsibilities

• Deliver dietetic care to patients in community settings (GP practices, community hospitals, patients' homes, care homes).
• Provide supervision to Dietetic Support Workers and Band 5 Rotational Dietitian.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams and support pathway development and service improvement.
• Occasional ward cover at Perth Royal Infirmary as required.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Specialist Community Dietitian to join one of our dynamic and friendly Tayside teams. The post offers an excellent opportunity to deliver a wide range of community based nutritional care with an emphasis on nutrition support, (including home enteral feeding) in Perthshire community settings such as GP practices, community hospitals, patients homes and care homes. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with other health and care colleagues, taking a pro-active approach to the clinical care of patients, service improvement, education and pathway development.

The post holder will also provide dietetic support to NHS Taysides Long Term Conditions Service. There will also be a requirement to provide occasional ward cover in Perth Royal Infirmary.

The post holder will be responsible for the supervision of Dietetic Support Workers and/or a Band 5 Rotational Dietitian. Excellent team working and communication skills are therefore essential in this role, as is the ability to work independently.

The Tayside Nutrition & Dietetic Service promotes collaborative working across all our teams in different settings and specialities. This enables and encourages the development and implementation of pathways, standards and innovative practice. It also allows for extensive peer support and opportunities for professional development. We are committed to the training of dietetic students, medical students and other healthcare professionals.
