Job summary

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Biomedical Scientist to join the Cellular Pathology team at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists, with IBMS Specialist Portfolio for Band 6 appointment; Band 5 for those without portfolio.

The post involves work across Histology, Cytology and Mortuary services in a modern facility, with training, quality assurance and service development responsibilities.

Qualifications

• BSc in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent qualification approved by IBMS.
• HCPC registration is required.
• IBMS Specialist Diploma (Cellular Pathology) preferred for Specialist Band 6.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to provision of Cellular Pathology service within Histology, Cytology and Mortuary settings.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team with Advanced Biomedical Scientists and Advanced Practitioners.
• Assist in registration of specimens, processing preparation, and quality assurance activities.
• Provide specialist scientific support and contribute to service development and training.
