Job summary
The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Advanced Biomedical Scientist to undertake a Section Lead role within Cellular Pathology. You will provide operational leadership, drive service development, and support delivery across a large, innovative pathology service accredited to UKAS ISO 15189.
You will work with Histology, Diagnostic Cytology, Neuropathology, and genomics initiatives, leading workforce planning and quality improvement while promoting
Qualifications
- Experience with quality management systems and accreditation processes.
- Ability to lead section staff, allocate work, and support professional development.
- Experience implementing new technologies and digital pathology initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialist scientific leadership within Cellular Pathology and contribute to high-quality diagnostic service delivery.
- Lead and support staff to ensure efficient workflow, timely turnarounds, and staff development.
- Contribute to service improvement, workforce planning, and implementation of new technologies and processes.
- Ensure compliance with UKAS ISO 15189, HTA, and other regulatory standards and investigate/resolve non-conformances.
