The successful candidates will assist Medical Pathologists in the dissection of large resection organs and the processing of small tissue biopsies. Key responsibilities include processing, dissection, embedding, and microtomy of specialised and routine tissue samples, as well as immunocytochemistry, immunofluorescence, digital pathology, and quality control within the department.
The department is continually developing, with trained Biomedical Scientists in advanced dissection qualifications aiming for 80-90% of dissection work to be undertaken by biomedical scientists. The department is also implementing full digital pathology and training biomedical scientists in histopathology reporting.
